To honour our forebears, The First Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Hamilton have erected a monument to honour and remember their contributions in Woodland Cemetery, where many of our ancestors are buried.  The surrounding trees and water view across Hamilton Harbour remind us of the beautiful Estonian coastal landscape.  The monument will be an everlasting tribute to our ancestors.

Black Ribbon Day

The Latvian community in Hamilton invites their Baltic neighbours and others to remember Black Ribbon Day Monday, Aug 23rd and go to Bayfront Park to tie a black ribbon around Latvia’s Centennial oak tree in a moment of reflect and remembrance. The oak tree was planted by Latvians, but it is also a place that we can all share with our Baltic neighbours.

Seedrioru Pool
Beautification Project

HES has been working hard on projects to beautify the pool area at Seedrioru.

Lisa and Andy Ross began this project by donating and building the shade structure between the basketball court and the pool.  In Summer of 2021 Andy Ross and Sten Puust built a deck under the structure.

Krista Alexopoulos spearheaded the Muskoka chair project building 6 solid, weather resistant red chairs.

We wanted blue, but red was all there was available. Rob Zeidler from the Cotton Factory in Hamilton heard of our request so he switched all the chairs to blue and donated an additional 2 chairs.

Seedrioru Family Beach Day will be raising money for a new play structure for the kids to enjoy at the pool.

We are continually building upon these ideas and welcome any and all volunteers to help with these initiatives.
